Once again the
Royal Netherlands Air Force deployed to Carlisle this time the exercise
was under the banner of TAC UK. Up until last year this had been
a biannual event encompassing at lest two squadrons of helicopters and a
division of marines. This time however only three CH47 Chinooks of
298Sqn were deployed along with the 11th Airmobile Brigade.
The exercise played out in a very similar way in which the TAC BLAZE
exercises previously did with the Chinooks inserting and extracting troops from
various locations within the Spadeadam range whilst continually being
threatened with electronic
threats from the range controllers. The 11th Airmobile also carried out
some FAC work using GR4's of
9Sqn from Marham.
